Howdy Hipcooks,

Happy November!  We have much bounty:

Ah yeah, new classes are posted at all locations! Portland, East LA, West LA

"HOLY MOLE" A fabulous, festive clas.  Margaritas, too! Roasting chiles and chocolate 'til the burros come home.  Learn a great holiday party dinner.  This Tuesday at West LA, and Nov 18th at Portland

"I AIN'T NO TURKEY!" Feeling the season?  This class teaches you all you need for a show-stopping Thanksgiving.  Great if you are hosting, or need a portable extraordinary dish to bring somewhere.

"OY VEY!" Kosher class, Hipcooks style, just in time for Hanukkah!  Gefilte Fish never had it so good.

and, of course, our Holiday Classes are back:

"HOLIDAY ELVES" - Holiday cookies, brittle, truffles and (of course) a cup of good cheer for good measure. Four-hour class covers it all, including packing up a lovely box of treats to take for your evening's festivities

"COCKTAILS, 2: HOLIDAZE" Daze and dazzle with this collection of hearty snacks and drinks, to warm the spirit and cozy up under the mistletoe.

Also in the news:

Big thanks to all of you who turned out for ArtWalk - lovely to see you and introduce you to our littlest Hipcook. Lucia was most delighted to meet you :)  Hope you also got a gander at our beautiful new herb garden - installed by some mighty Hipcooks and the lovely ladies at HeartBeet Gardening.  We'll host a planting workshop and "Cook from your garden" class next Spring.

The Holidays are coming!  Yikes, already?! Make giving easy on yourself with Hipcooks Gift Certificates, a unique gift that keeps on giving (wink wink) - send your friends and family to a class and then they practice cooking for YOU.  Now that's a great present!

We're currently booking Holiday Parties - private classes are a wonderful way to celebrate and thank co-workers, friends and family - we'll take care of everything, you have a great party with no shopping, cleaning or wrapping.  And great food, ha!

Recipe of the month.  And now for your tried and true Recipe of the Month - the grand, the glorious, the glowing Hipcooks Cranberry Sauce!  Hip hip!

Cranberry sauce with fresh ginger and orange
3/4 lb fresh cranberries
1 cup orange juice
3/4 cup  brown sugar
2 teaspoons (about 1 inch) grated fresh ginger - use your microplane!
2 teaspoons orange zest

In a saucepan, combine all ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer gently for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cranberries will make a delightful popping sound as they open up and mixture will thicken.

And you crafty Hipcooks are already thinking of ways to Holidaze other Hip dishes right?  How about adding a little pumpkin puree to your flan from Una Noche en Espana - A Tapas Class, or fall spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger and allspice to the walnut cake from Healthy, Fresh & Zingy 2?  Oh so tasty and as lovely as you!  Cheers!

Eat Well, Be Well
